Individual Assessments

As the above diagram displays, our effectiveness as individuals is largely a result of the intersection of three dimensions of our being: personality, emotional intelligence (EQ) and intellect (IQ).

At Cook & Company, we focus primarily on the personality and emotional intelligence dimensions, in part because they are dimensions that we as individuals can control.  Our staff is certified by highly respected providers of the leading assessment instruments to provide assessments of each.

MBTI® - Step II

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®), the most widely used instrument for understanding personality differences, helps to identify predictable differences in the way people prefer to use their minds and relate to the world. It is a powerful tool for leadership development, communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, career development and stress management as well as many other organizational applications. Step II is an invaluable new product which provides an extension of the basic MBTI® type assessment by describing type differentiation within the same personality type.

Emotional Competency Inventory™ (ECI)*

Emotional Intelligence – Research has shown that “EQ” is a better predictor of success than “IQ.”  Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize and manage emotions (yours and others).  The emotionally intelligent person exhibits such competencies as accurate self-assessment, self-control and influence.

Through our application of the only emotional intelligence assessment instrument endorsed by the “father” or emotional intelligence, Dr. Daniel Goleman, we can provide an assessment of the four factors of emotional intelligence that Goleman idenitifes:

bullet Self Awareness
bullet Self Management
bullet Social Awareness
bullet Relationship Awareness

The ECI is a 360-degree instrument that assesses 20 of these emotional intelligence competencies.  It accommodates an unlimited amount of raters (self, peers, managers, employers) when it is administered via the internet.  Written comments are also an option.  Each 20-page personalized feedback report includes easy-to-understand instructions for interpreting the feedback, an overview of the emotional competence model, a personal summary of emotional competence, and competency details.

The LeaderScope™ Level I, Level II*

LeaderScope™ is a Cook & Company proprietary on-line assessment that is tailored to the leadership characteristics, behaviors, competencies and performance which an organization wants to inculcate and develop in its managers. A typical factor set is strategic goals and the assessment poses questions regarding the extent to which he/she demonstrates progress toward those goals. Since LeaderScope™ is customized to reflect the specific corporate culture in which its managers operate and includes behaviors for high performance in that particular industry, results yield specific action items that can readily be made a component of an individual's performance review and leadership development plan. Both levels involve 360-degree feedback, but Level II offers more open-ended questions and presents leaders with a more detailed analysis of the results.

The Leadership Report using Firo-B™ and MBTI®*

This report helps individuals explore and expand their understanding of the leadership style they use and how others might perceive and react to it. The information in this report is based on responses to both the FIRO-B™ and MBTI® instruments. Both instruments tap into key aspects of personality and behavior in areas such as communication, problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal relations.  The instruments are quite distinct, each providing a view through a different window of the individual's leadership personality.
